Jamshedpur is around 275 kilometers away from Kolkata. Visitors from Kolkata come to weekend tour to the beautiful city. The beautiful city surrounded by hills and lakes offer brilliant travel destinations. One must see Dimna lake and Jubilee Park while visiting Jamshedpur.

Jamshedpur also called Tatanagar has excellent tourist spots. It is around 275 kilometers away from Kolkata.

Visitors can travel from Kolkata to Jamshedpur on roadways also. If one starts at around 7.30 am in the morning, it will take around 6 and a half hours to reach Jamshedpur, and one will reach Jamshedpur by 2 pm. If the travellers take a breakfast break in Kolaghat then it might add to another 40 minutes, so they can reach Jamshedpur by 2.45 pm on the same day.

Kolaghat is around 80 kilometers away from Kolkata and it takes around 2 and half hours to reach Kolaghat from Kolkata. There are a number of hotels and restaurants on the highway in Kolaghat including Sher I Punjab. These days due to over-crowding of tourist folk, the restaurants are mismanaging affairs.

Waitors are taking time to take orders, tourists are made to wait for long time before the food is served. Many tourists are looking for other restaurants as the known ones are not maintaining their standards due to over popularity.

There is one worry for passengers who travel from Kolkata to Jamshedpur by road. After Jhargram there is a patch of National Highway of around 60 kilometers which have terrible roads. The road on one side is under construction. So it is one way. Lorries and trucks are adding to the extra traffic congestion. That patch in the state of Jharkhand will take another 6 months to be completed and till that time the congestions will continue.

In Jamshedpur, there are many A grade hotels and restaurants. The Sonnet hotel is an excellent hotel situated in the Bistupur area in Jamshedpur. Tired travellers love the Hotel a lot. On entering the hotel itself, the hotel staff provide welcome cold drink like coke. It is a soothing experience.

Many travellers who are 4 or 5 in  numbers prefer suites. If they get a suite, they almost have 2 rooms with extra mattress. There are tea coffee makers inside the suites and one can have tea or coffee at the odd hours.

There are bath tubs in the bathrooms of the suites and there is 24 hours hot water. So in winter it is fun  having bath as many times the day as one wants. There are 2 LCD TVs on either of the rooms. Balconies are provided along with the suites, so one can have a view of the main road from the balcony.

The biggest tourist attraction of Jamshedpur includes the Jubilee Park. There is a beautiful rose garden in the park. It is named Rose Garden. But there are many flowering plants including rose plants, marigold plants, dahlia plants. The garden is very well maintained.

Children prefer the Amusement Park with the Jubilee Park. It costs around Rs 90 to 100 per person to enter the amusement park. There are many rides within the park. Visitors find great time within the park. The children enjoy the park the most.

There is also a traditional park in the vicinity.  There students bring their own sports equipments like bats, balls, badminton rackets, footballs and play in the lush green fields.

In the vicinity there is a zoo for the children. Children have to buy tickets and enjoy the animals and birds over there. The beautiful hills at the back are visible from the Jubilee Park.

The other important tourist destination of Jamshedpur includes the Dimna Lake. The lake waters are controlled by Dimna Dam which regulates the amount of water which the lake has. There is a beautiful hill  at the back of Dimna Lake. People from different parts of the country come to have picnic near the Dimna Lake. January and February are the best months. The bright sun, the beautiful hills, the cool weather creates ideal atmosphere for tourists to spend time in the Dimna Lake. After spending 2 to 3 hours near the Dimna Lake and the Dimna Dam tourists return back to their home town. For people from Kolkata they try to start again by 11.30 am because another 6 and half hours are required to reach Kolkata, so they can reach Kolkata by 8 pm at night.

On the way the tourists in many cases visit the Tata Steel Museum in Jamshedpur. Jamshedpur is famous for Iron and Steel Industry and many other factories. The museum depicts the history of creation of the industries and their growth.

The drinking water in Jamshedpur is wonderful. Tourists add weight if they stay in Jamshedpur for 3 to 4 days. The food in the Sonnet hotel is awesome. Many tourists have chicken dopiyaza or Chicken Lababdar with Steam rice and Dal Makhani in lunch. As food is awesome, the restaurant staff guides the tourists as the best dishes available in the hotel. Many tourists order mutton roganjosh with Tawa roti or butter Nan roti in the dinner.

The Sonnet Hotel has a complimentary breakfast in the morning. The complimentary breakfast is in the form of a buffet. There are fresh fruits like papayas, water melons, non-vegetarian items like egg omelette, fish chops, chicken sausages, milk, cereal flakes, cakes, dry fruits like walnuts, cashewnuts, and other cuisines. There are South Indian food also available like upma, idlis with sambar dal and coconut chutney. The food quality of The Sonnet hotel is awesome.

If tourists have their own cars then there cannot be any better tour than driving by the road. Only the hotel has to be booked at least 15 days before journey. But no train bookings or flight bookings are required. The peak seasons face rush in the hotels like the Christmas period around 25th December, 31st December, 1st January and combination holidays like Netaji Birthday on 23rd January and Republic day on 26th January. If there peak seasons can be avoided getting accommodation for 2 to 3 days in the hotels in Jamshedpur is not difficult. Those who have children they are required to take extra clothes because the rough roads after Jhargram in the Jharkhand border can lead to vomiting for the small children. Tourists should visit Jamshedpur on roadways. It is really fun.
