The beauty, history and cultural importance of Sri Lanka has been rated; as one of the most famous tourist destinations, in the world.

It is highly rich with beautiful and fascinating places, where they have been attracted; by so many tourists from around the world. Wonderful beaches, rivers, waterfalls and mountains, wildlife, historical places and so many other tourist attractions are blessed with this beautiful small island. World Tourism Organization has revealed that Sri Lanka has seven world heritage sites.

Sri Lanka has some wonderful beaches like Arugam Bay, Hikkaduwa, Kalkuda, Trincomalee, Galle and Nilaveli. Arugam Bay is located in more than 300 kilometers away from Colombo. It is a well-known surfing destination in the country. Hikkaduwa beach is in southern part of Sri Lanka.

It is famous for its unique corals and beach. Kalkuda beach is located in Baticaloa District in Sri Lanka. It is also a very popular tourist destination.

Sri Lanka offers the tourists so much of bio diversity through its unique wild life attractions. According to Conservation International, Sri Lanka is one of the most bio diversified countries in the world. Yala National Park, Uda Walawe National Park and Horton Plains National Park are some of the most tourists attracted wild life reserves in Sri Lanka. Yala National Park was established in 1894 and it is one of Sri Lanka’s main wildlife destinations where lot of elephants, leopards and bears are living. The Uda Walawe National Park is known to its wild animals such as elephants, deer and wild bears. It is located in southeast of Colombo. The Horton Plains National Park is quite different to other national parks more to its location. It is located in hill country where the temperature is very low. It is very famous for the place called “World’s End”. You can organize your own safari trip in these National Parks and enjoy an exciting wild life.

Kandy is a historical city in Sri Lanka where the world famous annual Dalada Perahera is celebrated. Dalada maligawa is the temple where the sacred tooth of Lord Buddha is located. It is annually carried around the Kandy city by a procession with lot of dancers, drummers and elephants participating. Kandy is one of those seven world heritage sites in Sri Lanka. Sigiriya – a rock fortress is also another world heritage site in Sri Lanka which is situated in Matale district. Sigiriya is well known to its architectural setting which has surprised lot of people about the high technology used in creating this fortress in ancient times. It has a height of 200 meters and 1200 steps to reach the top of the fortress. King Kashyapa one of Sri Lanka’s most popular ancient kings built this to make himself protected from enemies. Anuradhapura is another tourist attraction due to its high ancient and historical value. It is Sri Lanka’s past ancient capitals where the ruins of the city have been protected. Polonnaruwa also has a similar story to Anuradhapura where it was also another ancient capitals of Sri Lanka in past. It is the second most ancient kingdoms out of all Sri Lanka’s kingdoms in past. Both Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are also world heritage sites in Sri Lanka. Likewise Sri Lanka is blessed with so many tourist attractions and a fascinating country you should visit at least once in your lifetime
