Lolegaon situated in North Bengal generally provides all the requirements of the thinkers. Lolegaon is situated at an altitude of 5500 feet above sea level. The place is fringed by the Neora Valley Reserve Forest. It is a very cold place. In December temperature hovers around 2 degree celsius.

But there is huge natural treasure in the area.

The rich stretch of rhododendron trees and lush green alpine vegetation is the breeding place of rare species of animals like Giant Panda. Cardamom trees are seen at the foot hills. There are also stretches of ginger plantation. A lot of revenue is earned from the sale of ginger in that part of the world. The giant pandas are very shy animals. They want to stay away from human population. Whenever they see the visitors they hide inside the branches of rhododendron trees.

Due to frequent invasion of the forests by human beings deer had become rare, which used to roam around 5 years back. Many visitors while travelling in jeeps or gypsies stop and take photographs of the cardamom trees. The tall trees form canopy and does not allow that amount of sunlight to penetrate into the ground.

The cottages owned by West Bengal Forest Development Corporations take the visitors to a different world. Travelers think that they had come to Austria or Switzerland. The cottages or residencies are named after different trees, like Birches, Hemlock, Orchid 1, Orchid 2, etc. The entire area has the ambience like that of Switzerland. Travellers love to stay in the individual cottages and feel that they are in Birches, Hemlock, Orchids.

Lepchas, Bhutias and Hilly tribes stay around the place, and the population is quite scanty due to cold subsisting during major period of the year. Both Mount Everest and Mount Kanchenjunga are visible from a sunrise point called Jhantidara. It is a very rare sunrise point. Other than Jhatidhara none of the other points can show the visitors both Kanchenjundha and Mount Everest from the same point.

For most part of the year, the area remains covered with mist and fog. A canopy walk is created near the market of Lolegaon, where people can enjoy the view of the forests. Travellers love to walk down the ropes in the canopy walk and feel that they are in the middle of nature. The lust green alpine vegetation at great height attracts the travellers.

There are artificial mushrooms created and gardens are maintained around them for visitors to spend time in the high altitude destination. The artificial mushrooms are created in such a way that travellers feel that they are staying with birds, insects, giant pandas, and wild nature at great height. The jostling of the birds is the only sound that is heard in the place. Travelers should visit Lolegaon for the peace, solitude and loneliness.
