Rishop is one of romantic tourist destinations of West Bengal. One section of the tourists look for urbanized travel destinations where there are museums, man-made structures, thick population, different festivals. Another section of the tourists look for solitude, gift of nature, peaceful atmosphere. Rishop basically attracts the second section of the travelers. It is situated in North Bengal as such. It has an altitude of 8500 feet above sea level.

It is situated in North Bengal as such. It has an altitude of 8500 feet above sea level. Due to hilly roads being difficult for driving only Omnies, Gypsies and Savories are the prominent vehicles that are used and found in the roads in Rishop.
It is very scantily populated. During the winter months, November, December, January and February, temperature comes down to 0 degrees Celsius. The extreme cold compels the majority of the population to come down to the plains during the months of December, January. Travellers who can bear the extreme cold find a paradise in Rishop.
Due to the high altitude, grosseries, food-grains and other utilities are brought in trucks and other vehicles from the plains. The greatest attraction of the place is the visibility of Mount Everest from the spot Tiffindara. It is a site from where both Mount Everest and Mount Kanchenjungha are visible. Jhatidhara is another spot from where the sites of sunrise and sunset can be seen. Both Mount Everest and Kanchenjungha can be seen from there. But the entire place is filled with mist all round the year. Only a certain section of the travelers can see Mount Everest and Kanchenjungha together on a clear day. Whenever the sun comes out the landscape becomes visible. There are many valleys in the vicinity which are beautiful.
Tourists avail of the beautiful hotel Sonar Bangla. The hotel has a beautiful ambience. The beautiful hotel Sonar Bangla has such picnic locations that some section of the tourists after visiting Jhatidhara bring the food, cook there and have them there. Bonfires are made during the evening in the lawns. Flowers are planted along the boundaries of the hotel. They are well maintained also.
